On the night of April 14 to 15, 1912, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.

It was the largest and most luxurious ship of its time. Of the 2,224 passengers and crew, 1,496 died in this shipwreck when the vessel struck an iceberg south of Newfoundland.
